Week #27

Dear Family!

I am super glad to hear and to see the pictures that Megan had a good time for her Birthday! I was worried that she wouldnt like the gifts that I chose for her! :) Also that school is over and graduation was good and fun and now it is summer time!

Haha summer time...this weekend in Salado was sooo cold! It was rainy pretty much all week! I wore my pajama pants underneath my slacks I was so cold! haha Well this week started out interesting. Tuesday I woke up and got ready for the normal district meeting and as we are heading out the door Elder G informs me that we would be having a division today! So I was parterned up with an Elder from Peru named Elder R. Well Elder R is new and so I had to do part of his daily training with him.

So it went pretty good! It was good not to worry that he didnt know any English like I was worried with my first divisions! Also we were in my area so I planned out the day. These plans included a final lesson with Pat. because she hasnt been really sincere with us. She is super friendly but she hasnt put her effort in to become converted! So the lesson I planned out was like all or nothing. So we go and right off the bat she announces to us she has recieved her answer and she wants to be baptized! And she asked me to perform the ordinance! It was really cool! I was so suprised! We have been working really hard with her doubts and now she is so assured! I was really impressed! But the baptism is postponed for the next Saturday so I will be sending pictures!  :)

Well the next day I had another division with Elder R only in his area! And he is training also so I had to do part of that with him but the funny thing was he doesn't know his area very well poor guy so our day was spent walking a lot! And then at 8 o clock at night it started raining like I have never seen! With so much wind! And Elder R was the only smart one to bring his umbrella! So if you could imagine us sharing this little umbrell fighting the wind and rain for 2 miles until our house that is how we were :) it was pretty awesome! haha

Since it was really cold and wet our week was a slow one, but I tried my hardest and tried to work my best! As you know that we only have cold water to shower with so I took a few sponge baths with boiling water which was miserable but the life of a missionary is not a comfortable one! It was really funny to me, my body hurt but I was happy, I dont know how to explain it haha.

But only 45 people attended the meetings on Sunday so it was sad. We passed by a few people that didnt attend but it was hard to motivate them to attend when the dont have anything to protect themselves fromt the rain and the cold! Something funnny that happened is that i stepped in this puddle of mud and it consumed my shoe and dirtied my sock! So when we went to the M's house and when I started complaining about it she made me take my shoes off and my socks off and they dried them with the fire they had! I felt so bad for her and when I asked her to let me do it she told me No it was the least she could do because I brought her back to the church and changed her life for the better. This really touched me so I couldnt really fight against it! Enjoy the photo!

Well this week was good! I had good divisions with Elder R and Elder R. They are learning and will be good missionaries :) I love you and I will write more next week!

Week #26 - Letter Home

Dear Family,

I think that is one of the few times or maybe the only time that I have been able to write a letter two weeks in a row!  Well, this was possible because last week, the other Elders in my house went to the office and now Elder G. And I are heading to the office.  So I am taking advantage of the trip and writing you guys a quick note.

Well, how is everyone?  School is almost over, so that is an awesome thing to think about.  I hope everybody's jobs are doing well and that everyone is having fun, as it soon appears that I will have six month away from home!  It has gone by fast.  Perhaps a little too fast, but I am still learning as much as possible!  So with that, Spanish is going really good!  Someone thought I was Brazilian due to my accent.  So that is a step.

Well, the mission is great.  Elder G. And I get along great.  Salado is doing excellent.  The people are great.  This Sunday was a pretty awesome experience.  Elder G. And I have church at 8:30 a.m. but this Sunday, Elder G. And I woke up and left the house at 7:00 a.m. to gather the members and accompany them to the church.  So by 8:00 a.m., we had a little parade of people following us to go to church, including 4 inactive families!  So it was pretty awesome!  Also we were able to walk with our little recent converts, R., V., and L. So it was actually pretty sweet!

Well, this is six weeks has flown by.  The closer I get, the more I think if I have left Salado better than when I first arrived here.  I feel that I have, but could be lying.  However, I feel in my heart that Heavenly Father is please with the work that I have done here.  I say all this because if I do stay another six weeks, that means I will have stayed in Salado six months, which is really rare!  So I feel that my time in Salado is coming to an end, and I am going to miss it!  But we will see what happens.  By the time you guys receive this letter, you will know if I left of stayed.

Well, thank you for your time to read this letter and check up on Elder Milton.  He is doing excellent and is healthy.  But I definitely miss and love you guys!  I am forever grateful for your support and love.  I will be
Writing more soon!

Love,
Elder Milton

Week #26

Dear Family!

I am glad to hear that everyone is doing good! It sounded like a really relaxed week to enjoy with school finishing up this week I am sure that everyone is ready for summer! That is cool to hear that Brother Tilley gave the key note address! He really has a way with words and he is a great story teller so I am sure it was great! :) Congrats to Megan and her promise ring scholarship! That is interesting, I didnt know they did that! But then again I was never smart enough to be considered for such a scholarship haha! Also congrats mom on your final grade :) I am sure it feels good to focus only on speed for a little bit now! This week is Megans birthday and I cant belivieve she is turning 17! But she is growing up and it is awesome! :) I hope she enjoys her birthday and my gifts :)

Well this week was alright! We started out great but then my companion got sick and that hindered our work a little, then it was rainy so that hindered it a little more, and then on Saturday we had interviews with President McM and we were the last ones so we had to wait from 10 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon! While we were waiting we had a little reunion with the assistants and that only lasted until 12 so we were waiting around for 4 hours! My interview was good! We talked a lot and it was good to vent to him a little about a few of my concerns so I was grateful for his time! It switched from spanish to english like 30 times poor president was probably confused but it requires more thought to speak in English than in spanish!

So the productive things that I did this week! Firstly we have been really working with Pat.. She has the date of may 24 for her baptism and she is still having some doubts. Yesterday we taught her the Book of Mormon and its role and importance. She seemed to accept it fine but the important thing is that she needs to read! This is something she struggles with but we are going to really press it hard. Also one of the little girls that we were preparing for saturday also fell and was baptized in the Catholic church :( we had been really working with her and her mom but in the end the influence of the Mom won and she was baptized in the other church! This really made me sad! She is really young, only 9 years old. So it was hard for me to want her to trust the missionaries more than her own mom...so it was a tough situation and a tough loss!

Well this week we had a service project and it has been a long time! The project, trim the tree at the top! Holy moly this tree was GIANT! I have no idea how I climbed up it! I guess I was really excited. The worst part was when we finished I couldnt get down I was so scared! So please enjoy the picture haha.

Well I sent off another letter today! But I am sorry for how short this letter is, not a lot happened this week! But I love you guys and I pray for you all the time! I will write you next week!

Love,
Elder Milton

Week #25 - Letter Home Dated - April 20, 2014

Dear family,

Well, this is the week I didn't have time to write you guys.  If you remember!  Well, Elder Milton is still alive.  I hope you guys enjoyed your Easter and all the chocolates and candies, but most importantly, remembered the importance of Easter -- Jesus Christ's resurrection.

Well, the week that I didn't write to you guys, at least I received your package!  And it was very much appreciated.  Now, I jump rope everyday and, of course, I ate all my candy, probably a little bit too fast.  Now, I am sad I don't have any!  So, I learned my lesson, so I will conserve my kool-aid and crystal light packets.

Well, this week was a special week in Paraguay and I am sure around the world.  "Semana Santa" The tradition here is we eat this bread stuff called "CHIPA" and really there is nothing special about CHIPA.  It is the bread stuffed formed in a circle that has a dry taste, be a texture of rubber.  It is very interesting, but I respect the tradition and ate 50 pounds of the stuff that members gave me!  Every member thought that their recipe was the best, but in reality, they all tasted the same!

Well, how is everyone?  School has one more month!  Party!  I also hope that everybody's job is doing well.  Not only are you guys in my prayers but the members that we teach pray for your safety and health.  For that, I am always grateful for!

Well, I am sure I hold you all about the baptism we had on Easter.  It was a really spiritual service.  The little girl I baptized, L., is so cute.  She was so excited but so nervous in front of so many people!  Well, I was pretty nervous also!  But, all went well.  Confirmation and everything.  It was truly a blessing from the Lord.  Sometimes, you have idea where this work takes you, but the Lord blesses those who trust him.

Well, I am sorry of the shortness of this letter, but my companions are the one's going to deliver this letter and they are leaving soon.  But Elder Milton is a live and very well!  I love you all very much!  And as always, you are in my prayers.  Thank you for your support and love!  I will write more soon!

Love,
Elder Milton
P.S. I will Skype you soon for Mother's Day!

Week #25

Hola Familia!

Well I am glad to hear that Mom had a great mothers day :) Thank you family for taking good care of her! Also I was very pleased to Skype and chat with Mom Kali Megan and Kelly! I missed Mike and Kody but I am super glad they had a good time at the Fathers and Sons! Technology is a great thing! Luckily I was serving in an area that a internet cafe(ciber in español) had skype! Some missionaries were not so lucky! So I am glad I got to enjoy the technology also! :)

Kody is a wild child! So of course he is going to be good at capture the flag! :) I am glad he had a good time! Also 1:48 lap time is super quick! That is way awesome! Also the girls had a little trip to Tuscon which sounds like fun! I hope all went well :) Also I was surprised with the appearance of Kelly! She sure tricked me! But this was a good trick! :) Yes she is leaving soon! 29 days! I am so grateful for the relationship she has kept with you guys while I have been gone! :)

So the week went really good! We worked hard on Saturday with the members like I told you guys on Skype! My group was good and my companion for the 3 hours was the 2nd counselor to the Bishopric and his name is Hermano A. B.! He is awesome and has always been friendly to me since the day I got to the ward! So it was good to get to know him a little more and to work beside him :) also we had a few young women in our group that helped out a bunch too! It was a great success! And the ward conference yesterday was really good and we had a good show up!

So the question of which is easier to work with less actives or investigators. Personally the less actives are a lot more demanding and a lot harder to work with! The investagators at least have the curiosity! But if a less active doesnt have a testimony or a purpose to go to church they we will stop going! So its almost like a second conversion with them most of the time! Also our investigators are progressing well! We are working with them for May 24! We are going to set the dates this week so keep them in your prayers!

Well this week has been a good one and it ended well with the Skype date and the ward conference! :) I loved seeing you guys and hearing your voices! As always I love you and pray for you! Thank you for taking the time to talk for a minute! I will write you next week! :)

Love,
Elder Milton

Week #24

Hola Familia!

I am super glad to hear that everyone enjoyed themselves at Disneyland! :) The pictures that I recieved only show a small porcion of the fun that you guys really had! I am sure jealous and bummed that I missed it but I am making it worth it down here in Paraguay :)

This week as you may have read last week was the visit of the Area Seventy. His name is Elder Wilhelm and we were able to accompany our prime investigator P. and she also brought with her 4 of her friends! All who attended church yesterday! P. is a youth that we have been working with she is 18 years old. We have been trying to set a date for her baptism but she is a little wishy washy with the idea. But I have seen a new P. with her friends helping them and teaching them principles of the Gospel! She even suprises herself that she has a testimony of these things! I think it has been a blessing to her that she was able to invite her friends and also help us teach them! Its been really good! We are hoping to set a date this week, maybe all of them for the same day!

Also you guys should know that Elder Milton is staying in Salado for another 6 weeks! Which means for those who are good with math this will mark my 4th change hear or in casual language...6 months! I am super glad and happy to continue to work here! I really have developed a sincere love for the people here! The only change for me this next change is the house(we found a house and we are moving out today) and also my companion Elder G. is the new distric Leader! Also I was happy to hear that all the missionaries in Salado are staying. Including Elder A. and Elder R.!

Well bad news time :( due to the fact of me moving I accidentally packed away my adapter to send pictures! And I have so many! So please forgive me this week! But I am super excited to see you guys and talk with you guys for a little bit :) As always you are all in my prayers and I love you all very much! Hasta Sàbado!

Love,
Elder Milton

P.S. Happy Mothers Day early mom! :) I love you!
