Week #62

Hola Familia!

Sounds like everyone had a good week! Doesn't sound like anything random happened but that is good! I am glad to hear that the trip to Tuscon went good and to hear that in some places it actually gets cold! This week was good weather wise but on Wednesday it was really hot! 46 degrees Celsius which is I don't know how much in Farenheit. I am super happy that the Goal to read the Book of Mormon is still going strong! It is super important and it might be boring at times but I know that if we study it and apply it, our lives will be blessed! Mom super good job to say adios to Caffeine! The blessings may not be immediate but I know that they will be present in Gods timing!

Well for the Airport Mom, I know that you will invite the people that should be there. So please when the time comes, invite who you think should be there :) family, friends, friends that are family. What you think is best!

The news is I am staying in San Pedro! I will finish the training of Elder S! Which is what I wanted so I am very content! Elder R was the only one that left the district, and a new one came from Chile named Elder H! Its crazy because Elder S and I have been here for 4 changes or 6 months! I have never been in the same district with anyone for this long! Luckily Elder S is super awesome and we are getting along great!

This week was a good week! We were super busy and we spent a lot of time giving service! We dug holes to plant trees, we cleaning a back yard, helped people with groceries, and whatever else we could find to talk to people and lend a helping hand! We saw some huge blessings. Its interesting because it seems that the service we offer not only affects the person that we gave service but to all our investigators! I have seen some investigators that we have completely change in what seems over night! We have 3 with baptismal dates. 2 are neighbors named M and M that are reading and praying and come to church! And another is named N that will be married next month and she wants to be baptized! Also this week we were finally able to see the M family come back to church! So somehow the service we give to others affects the hearts of everyone. So we are always on the lookout to serve in whatever way we can!

So some funny stories this week! An investigator named SS got in trouble in his church this week because he shared with them a scripture from the Book of Mormon and he defended us the missionaries and the Book of Mormon to his congregation! He is a super good guy but he works on Sunday morning, so he is always trying to convince us to open up in the afternoon! So we are working really hard with him to stop working on Sunday!

This week! We finally hung up the plaque! I was tired of waiting for the guy to come so I decided that I would hang it up myself! So I went and borrowed the power drill, bought some drywall screws and we hung it up! it looks really good! Not because I hung it up but the plaque brought a sweet spirit to the building! So It was super awesome to hang up a church plaque!

So this week was good and yes I found out that I will once again have 7 and a half months in my second area...but I am super happy! I don't really like changes so we will have to work super hard this change as always and help this unity progress! So thank you for your prayers, love, and support! I pray for you guys always! I love you and I will write you more next week!

Love Always,
Elder Milton

Week #61

Hola Familia!

Well this week was a crazy week! Being a little down after last Sunday really helped me to really finish out this change strong! We jumped from a low of 10 people coming to 30 people this week! And we still lack so many faces!

The week was good to continue the training of my companion Elder S. He is doing good and we are getting along super good! I did a division with Elder S in his area this week and it was a horrible start. We started at night because the divisions have to be 24 hours. And the power went out! His house doesn't have air conditioning and is SOSOSO hot...so without power and the ceiling fan we really were cooking! We talked and  suffered together haha, and I for sure left a nasty sweat shadow in Elder R bed! But at 10:30 on the dot the power returned! And we still don't know how but somehow the mirror box caught fire! We have no idea! But we had no Idea until we saw smoke coming out from under the bathroom door! The Lord was protecting us for sure!  If the power was still cut who knows if we would've noticed the smoke! So we luckily extinguished it but smoke was in the whole house so we spent an hour trying to air it all out!

The was the drama of the week! Back to my area with my companion we worked hard and set bautismal dates with the P Family and their neighbor MA and they came to church so we will keep working with them! They are really starting to understand so much! They asked us after reading the Book of Mormon a little what was the Eternal life, and after we explained that to them I felt that their hearts opened up to the spirit even more! Hermana C is traveling and we are worried but praying so much for her. She is super good but alcohol is the problem. So we will find her this week and teach her! The L family also traveled this week so we planned a Family Home Evening with them this Thursday!

Changes! I feel that I am staying, I am not entirely sure but its very probably that I will stay to finish the training of Elder S! But it is super probably that Elder S or Elder R leave this week. I am super sad, this district has been super close. They are like my brothers! So I have hopes that we all say but its not too probably!

I am so excited to hear about  Megan and her trip! That will be so sweet to go and see Uncle Melvin and to visit the UVU campus! Mike that is awesome your new calling! I am super touched that I was included in his setting apart! I am so honored! Mom I hope that you keep up the good work with your goal with Soda and with school! Kali and Kody look so big! I hate it!

I am so happy that you are reading The Book Of Mormon! That is so amazing! There is still a lot of time to do it but keep being diligent! I will pray that you guys read every day!

Well this is my small  report for the week! I love you all and pray for you all often! I hope you have a good week! And I will write more next week! I love you!

Love Always,

Week #60

Welcome to 2015!
Wow I cant believe it is here haha when I first started the mission it felt like a lifetime away! And now it is here and now more than ever I will have to put the hard hat on and work even harder! :)

It sounded like a good week for everyone! I am hopeful that everyone enjoyed their vacation and now they can go back to studying and working hard :) I was thinking of goals this week as well and I have set many for this year personally! Mom I think that is a wonderful goal to give up soda! Here in the mission it is not allowed to drink caffeine. And I have set the goal when I get home to not drink it anymore! So Adios Pepsi! I have been meaning to tell you guys this since Skyeping but I think it would be a great goal for the family to read all of the Book of Mormon before I get home! It would be great for Kali and Kody and also to help you guys learn together! :) but that is my idea!

I will look up this talk and print it out so that I can read it! But it is important to learn as much as you can! I have had many people in the mission tell me that I knew a lot...which is a lie but I can say I know a little about a lot of things! For example yesterday a Sister couldn't start up her motorcycle and asked the missionaries to help her, well I was the only one who knew how to start a motorcycle and helped her to get it running! Another example would be this week we had the chance to paint a house when we were proselyting, we just so happened to contact this house and I offered to help them, at first they doubted me that I couldn't get dirty in my clothes, and then they doubted I didn't know how to paint because I am a Norteamericano. So i showed them and I painted a whole house! So there are tons of things to learn! And a lot of resources! :)

Packages. Nothing still, I have to wait until President comes this month or if we have changes next week we will go to the office!

This week was rough haha I call it the hangover week, which I am sure happens in all parts of the world so there were few people AWAKE to teach this week! Put we did find a really awesome family! We painted this house and were really interested in our message, so we will be teaching them this week! The L family.  We are working with some families that have great potential! The sad part of this week was 9:30 am. Church starts at 9 and nobody showed up, so we started the Gospel Prinicples class with the four missionaries at 9:30 am a few more people showed up and we would have an attendance of 10 people counting the missionaries! I presided, that is how many people didn't come! But as I thought of what we didn't do right this week, after I gave my testimony, I felt like there was something that we lacked...but then a recent convert who finished the Book of Mormon with us 2 days earlier stood up and gave a really powerful testimony of the Book of Mormon! She was super grateful that we set this goal for her to finish before the end of they year and she wants to help her family come to church and feel how she feels! It made me feel so much better! A feeling of success that cant be counted in numbers. I am going to create a certificate for her today and give it to her! She read it from my birthday until December 31st and finished! It was awesome!

Well this week is the last week of the change and I have high hopes for our work this week and for the people we will teach. Thank you for your love and your prayers! I don't know what I would do without them! I pray for you always and I will write you more next week! I love you!

Love Always,
Elder Milton

Week #59

Hola Familia!
I am happy to see so many smiles from Christmas! As I read and looked at the pictures I could see it was a very special Christmas! It was a huge blessing to talk to you guys on Skype and I loved every minute of it! I am still trying to figure out if it feels like a long time since we have talked or if it was like yesterday! For me it feels like the second! Its a weird combination! But either way thank you for your time and support to chat for a bit!

This week was a tough one! Basically everything shut down for Christmas including the people! The majority of the members traveled for the week so we on Wednesday and Thursday we spent most of the time in the street trying to find somebody awake to teach! Never have I ever seen a city so dead! Haha everyone was asleep! ALL DAY LONG! But we did find some people and the Lord blessed us the rest of the week for the diligence we put in!

We are really trying to work with the P. family so that they can come to church! They know so much! Also talking to JG told me that if I didn't deny the Book of Mormon I would go to hell so our investigators have some work! Haha but on the good side, C. and her son L. came to church yesterday and it was really sweet! We are also working with a family that The dad is member but his girlfriend isn't and they have 2 kids. So we are working with them to get married and baptize his girlfriend named N! So we are praying and working hard! I am still trying to find how I can leave San Pedro better than when I found it, the Lord has blessed me with a lot of time here and we have had little progress, so I am still on the hunt to strengthen this unity!

Elder S. is doing good and progressing very fast in his training! He already almost has 6 weeks in the mission! Time does fly! But we get a long and he is super smart! This week he got me pretty good! He told me that one day animal sacrifices will return to the temple, I told him that he was in an apostasy, because Jesus was the last sacrifice! Well he didn't have any doctrinal support but he stayed firm in his statement! Well it just so happened that I read in this Joseph Smith book that you guys sent me that they will return for a time! So Elder S filmed my confession and bragged a lot haha but it is always good to learn! I am not perfect so I learn a lot from training also! :)

So this week has been up and down! But we worked hard anyways! But I am grateful for the prayers and support you give me and I love you guys so much! Have a happy new year!

Love Always,
Elder Milton
