First things first, I just read that email that you resent! I didnt get one last week so thats really weird...also the computers we were using were extremely slow. They only had 3 open for 4 missionaries so I sacrificed some of my time for my companion Elder S. But normally i should have 2 hours to email! So this week will be much better! Thank goodness Kody is okay! Oh my word that poor guy. Hes tough so im glad to see he recovered okay! Kali you look very pretty with your glasses! haha welcome to the family! Let me just say i absolutely hate wearing glasses! You guys will have to tell me how school is going also!
The jungle here in Paraguay is still green as ever! However the Lord has blessed me this week with a lot of rain! It felt amazing. It doesnt rain here too often but i hear when it rains it just comes down like no tomorrow! And this week it did! It wasnt fun in the aspect of walking around in mud and me forgetting my umbrella but i would take these conditions over blazing hot and humid anyday! Elder S. and I do a lot of walking. So something Ive decided to do is to memorize a scripture a day to pass the time and to help me with my spanish! The scriptures i memorized this week are The first vision, 1 Nephi 3:7, 1 Nephi 6:4, and Moses 1:39 all of which are relatively easy to memorize! The hardest part of spanish is the pronoun usage. They change places in the sentence all the time and in the scriptures its ever more difficult!
Along with being in the Jungle comes jungle bugs. haha. Today i counted 11 bug bites on my arms and 8 on my legs! You know how much i complained about getting bug bites back at home...well imagine that times 1000. They itch of course but these ones seem to linger so much longer! Like for 3 days each! haha i laugh about it now but trust me i really do complain all the time about them. Alright along with bugs comes my first gross story on the mission. Yesterday all of us elders(4 of us) in my house ran out of food. However i had one pack of pasta left that i decided that we could all share just to fill our stomachs before bed. I bought this pack of noodles last monday because thats when we do our shopping obviously. So i put this pasta into the boiling water and let it cook and soften for a while. I come back to check on it and there are so many of these little tiny bugs in the pasta boiling! I was like how did this happen! So i looked in the wrapper and there were bugs all inside the package! It was nasty! However four elders were hungry. So we let the pasta boil and spent about an hour trying to pick out the bugs. After an hour we decided that it was consumable and i smothered it in BBQ sauce and we ate up. I report today that i am in fact still alive haha.
Elder S. and I have this one family that we are currently teaching. The C. Family. There is 4 people in the family the parents and 2 daughters. These guys are awesome! We contacted them and taught them a little about the Book of Mormon and they accepted it! They asked for two so Elder S. and I were really excited! The next day we called them to ask them how they were doing and they invited us over for another lesson. which was completely unexpected! So we went over and they told us they read and prayed about it the night before as a family and they wanted to know more! Wow! Nobody does this haha. This lesson we taught them about The Gospel Of Jesus Christ and the spirit was so strong! We then invited them to church and they really wanted to come. The dad couldnt because he works but the mom and the daughters were super excited. So this sunday we called them to make sure they were coming but something awful happened. The mom was hanging up pictures with nails and i guess one fell on the ground and she stepped on it! It went all the way through her foot! So she had to go to the hospital and the only way she could get to church was by walking. So they werent going to be able to make it :( So today we are going to visit her and check up on her!
Our ward is extremely nice! Elder S. and I were fed 3 times this week so i was extremely grateful! We have lunch at the bishops house on fridays, then we had lunch on saturday with a family, and then we had lunch yesterday with another family! The family we ate at yesterday has a son his name is A. he just got home from his mission fairly recently from chile, and guess who one of his companions were...David Archuleta ahaa. He told me that so many girls would attend church just to see him! haha thats all i could translate from his spanish but thats pretty awesome!
This week was way better than last week! Im starting to familiarize my self with the area and the people but one thing that hasnt changed is i still dont speak or understand very much spanish. Its very frustrating. It seems like such task but right when i think im progresssing i talk to someone and dont understand a word they say! Haha this week i packed my english scriptures away and im readin only spanish material. at first it seemed hard but in the long run i think it is helping me!
Please send the package and mail to the mission address! Most areas in Paraguay dont have street names! So the misison offices distributes the mail! Overall this week has been a way better week than last week! I will let you know the progress of spanish and also my investigators as the week goes by :) thank you for your prayers and your email! You guys are in my prayers and i think about you guys all the time! I love and miss you all so much! I will be writing you next week! i love you!
Love,
Elder Milton
